The Development of the Foreign Language Department |
| Founded in 1993 , the Foreign Language Department of China Women’s University mainly undertakes the |
| teaching of non-English students and English majors. With the rapid development of the University,the Department enrolled |
| its first four-year English majors in September 2004. |

| The Foreign Language Department has a group of energetic teachers and staff members including 21 professional Chinese |
| and four American teachers.In addition,the Department has very good teaching facilities,i.e.,3 Internet language labs,172 |
| teachers computers and 4 audio-video classrooms for English majors. |
| |
| Aimed at training students in practical English skills, various courses are offered by the Foreign Language Department, for |
| example, compulsory subject courses such as Phonetics,Integrated Skills of English,English Writing and Listening.More than |
| 20 special courses are available, i. e. , Literary Translation and Appreciation , Trade and Business English , American and |
| English Literature, Trade and Commerce Translation, Bible, etc. |

| In order to adapt to the on-going development and requirement of the 21st century , the Department has been attempting |
| English reforms and innovations.In the past three years,a new"mobile"teaching mode has been tried with a view to setting |
| up an exchange platform where teachers can learn from each other and improve their teaching skills, and raise the overall |
| teaching level. |
